It never ceases to amaze me just how few in-house legal departments have any specific software tools to assist in the day-to-day activity of managing their legal matters. The most common answer from general counsel as to why this is still the case is usually “we have not seen a need for them”. In the current economic climate this is akin to the captain of the Titanic stating that his ship was “unsinkable”.
As with every other area of the corporate world, things are changing rapidly and the in-house legal department is no exception.
