The rash of US mergers this year looks set to break records as fresh research shows 47 American law firms having tied the knot in the first three quarters of 2002.
The figures, which were compiled by consultants Hildebrandt International, have fuelled expectations that this year could top the record-breaking tally of 76 US mergers in 2000 as merger activity typically picks up in the second half of the year.
