Half of the UK’s major law firms believe that there is a gap between the management committee’s expectations of IT and what the IT function actually delivers, according to a major survey by Cobalt Consulting.

According to Cobalt, law firms that have acknowledged the existence of such a gap exhibited a variety of symptoms, such as the exclusion of IT from strategic business decision making; poor communications between partners and IT decision makers; and under-utilisation of systems capability due to user competence.
