The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and the City of London Police’s Fraud Squad are in talks to merge, in a move that would bring together the UK’s two main investigative bodies focusing on corporate crime.

One senior official close to both the SFO and the police told Legal Week: “We do not investigate fraud very well in this country and fraud squads are being disbanded across the country. But the City of London Fraud Squad is the leading one in the country, so it makes sense to merge them.”
It is believed that SFO director Rosalind Wright has been lobbying for the change.
