Some of our readers may have been puzzled to see Baker & McKenzie’s London head, Russell Lewin, setting out on foot a few weeks ago from work to his Wimbledon home – on a non-strike day.

Well, The Diary can exclusively reveal that he hasn’t lost his marbles, but was instead planning meticulously for an 85-mile charity walk along Hadrian’s Wall.
You see, the hope was that by negotiating the three-hour walk home on several occasions before the hike, Lewin would get himself in trim for the big day.
Unfortunately the ruse did not pay off and he was forced to give up the walk just over halfway through, due to what he describes eloquently as “exploding feet”.
