The Lord Chancellor’s Department (LCD) is considering a sharp hike in court fees in a bid to stabilise court incomes in the face of falling levels of civil litigation.
The LCD last week proposed a steep hike in court fees in all divisions of the civil courts, aimed principally at increasing court revenue from cases over £15,000 in value, in a consultation document issued on 17 September.
