Seeking to put a positive spin on Scotland’s latest inward investment statistics, Iain Gray, the minister for enterprise, transport and lifelong learning, stressed that Scotland continues to maintain its share of UK inward investment projects – 9% – despite difficult economic conditions resulting in a dramatic fall in global foreign investment.

That was one of conspicuously few crumbs of comfort to be taken from the official report into the value and type of inward investment projects during the financial year 2001-02, which was published last month.
