The number of solicitors disbarred or suspended surged in the last financial year according to figures released by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT).
The SDT’s annual report, published this month, shows that the number of lawyers disbarred or suspended last year rose by one quarter to 116. Seventy-seven solicitors were struck off, compared with 62 last year, and 39 were suspended, up 10.
