Clifford Chance (CC) is to stagger its forthcoming management elections so that candidates can apply for more than one position if unsuccessful on previous votes, it has emerged.

The firm will vote on its new senior partner later this month, ahead of a poll for the global practice heads and then the regional managing partners.
Current London managing partner Peter Charlton is expected to stand for his post again. At present, no other partners have the five partners needed to back a nomination, according to CC sources.
