“We want a firm that has an international practice focus,” says Owen Johnson, national practice group leader at McCarthy Tetrault, Canada’s largest law firm.
“For us this is the fulcrum for getting outside of the Canadian legal market,” he adds. McCarthys, which with 767 lawyers is Canada’s largest law firm, is also one of the country’s truly national firms. With offices in the five major centres of Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary, the firm spans the Canadian provinces.
