Nigel BastinThe Bar Council and the Law Society have stepped up their push for higher education standards with the publication of three consultation papers aimed at winning support for the stronger oversight of law degrees.

The first two papers, aimed respectively at the heads of higher education institutions offering qualifying law degrees and the ‘recruiters’ of law graduates – including LPC and Bar Vocational Course (BVC) providers – were released in early August. A third paper will be sent out to the heads of law faculties later this year.
