There used to be a car game to keep children entertained when travelling on long journeys. One child looked for pubs on the left hand side of the road and the other the right with points scored if the pub’s name referred to a person or animal.
With the introduction of motorways many miles might be travelled without seeing a pub, but parents today could devise a new game to keep their children occupied by counting up the number of telecommunications masts which now appear everywhere.
