What have been your main challenges as global head of legal for a company the size of Unilever?
Trying to make sure our lawyers around the world – some 250 in all specialisations – all feel part of the Unilever enterprise and can make a real contribution to it beyond their own jurisdiction.
What will be your main challenges in the coming year?
Most importantly, responding to the challenges posed by recent corporate crises. Specifically this means recommending that the general counsel takes direct line and budget control of the legal and governance function throughout the worldwide group. This will cement independence and objectivity and demonstrate it to the outside world.
