Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has become the latest US firm to profit from the flood of contentious work generated by the recent wave of scandals to hit corporate America, after being appointed to represent a committee of investors of WorldCom.
Akin Gump is believed to have beaten Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy and Kirkland & Ellis to the work, with the Texas-based firm’s team being led by restructuring head Danny Golden, with partners Michael Stamer and Ira Dizengoff.
