US firms might want to watch out. A recent survey by Legal Week’s sister title, Legal Week Global, of the City’s top UK firms, shows the Brits are gathering speed when it comes to strengthening their battalions of US-qualified lawyers – both in London and abroad.
First, a few statistics: The survey shows a 20% average increase in US-qualified staff among these firms (excluding the mature practice of Clifford Chance) during the past 12 months – well ahead of the current growth rates of their US rivals in London.
