The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has stuck by its call for the legal professional to allow full multi-disciplinary partnerships (MDP), despite regulatory proposals this year to restrict accountants from offering non-audit services in the wake of the Enron scandal.

In the 12-month review of its 2001 report into competition in the professions, published last week, the OFT continues to criticise both the Law Society and the Bar Council for failing to allow their members to enter into partnerships with other professions.
