Latham & Watkins has stepped up its European expansion plans with the appointment this month of five partners from the Frankfurt office of Wessing, while finalising plans to launch its Italian office.

The Los Angeles-based firm’s latest senior hires see Lathams bolstering its infant Frankfurt office, which the firm has been building since last February when it took on the Hamburg arm of the now dissolved German firm Gaedertz.
The five partners are: Marcus Herrmann (corporate), Philipp Von Randow (banking), Volker Schaefer (litigation), Claus Gerber (corporate) and Ulrich Wuermerling (IT).
