The Law Society’s council last week blocked ambitious plans to deregulate legal services that could have allowed solicitors to share fees with non-lawyers.
In a surprise move, on 21 March the council voted in favour of allowing employed solicitors to provide any services to the public, but voted down proposals to allow solicitors to share fees or pay for referrals.
