The Law Society is investigating its former president Robert Sayer over the Kamlesh Bahl affair after being drawn into a race row over Chancery Lane’s self-proclaimed “proactive approach” to stamping out discrimination.

The move follows the lodging of a formal complaint against Sayer and current Law Society president David McIntosh by Raju Bhatt, a partner at London firm Bhatt Murphy. In his letter of complaint Bhatt calls on the Office for the Supervision of Solicitors (OSS) to investigate the conduct of Sayer and McIntosh during the legal battle with former Law Society vice president Bahl.
