The prospects for accountancy-tied law firms were dealt a further blow this week as the Government unveiled a post-Enron inquiry into the accountancy profession that is expected to put the provision of consultancy and legal services by auditors under the microscope.
As Legal Week went to press, trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt was set to unveil the terms of the inquiry, which will include submissions from the UK Treasury, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Accountancy Foundation.
