Mills & Reeve has advised the University of Hertfordshire on a PFI project to redevelop 1,600 student residences and build a sports centre and leisure facility in partnership with Carillion Private Finance and the Royal Bank of Scotland. The deal was financed through a bond issue worth £60m. Partner Raith Pickup led the team, assisted by Bridget Archibald. Ashurst Morris Crisp, led by partner Philip Vernon, advised Carillion, while Allen & Overy, led by partner Anne Baldock, advised Financial Securities Assurance, which insured the bond issue.

Stephenson Harwood has advised consortium Newmount in relation to its £22m PFI project with Dudley Council to build two new schools. The consortium included King Sturge Financial Services, Ballast and its subsidiary Wiltshire Facilities Management. One school will be built in Cradley, the other will be built in Kingswinford. Projects partner David Cuckson led the deal. Devonshires, led by partner Paul Buckland, acted for the Council. Pinsent Curtis Biddle associate Kate Peacock acted for Royal Bank of Scotland, which provided finance.
