Wrangles over partner status and guaranteed pay-outs are understood to be holding up the proposed merger between top Scottish firm McGrigor Donald and KLegal.
Legal Week can reveal that both firms are still deep in negotiations about the merger, which was originally supposed to go live by 1 January, and neither firm has signed a deed of partnership that would formalise the arrangement.
