I’ve enjoyed my Christmas and New Year break. I’ve returned to chaos. You would think that most people would settle down to their mince pies and sherry (if you’re the IT partner, no mince pies and a gallon of sherry). But not our IT users. Thanks to my ‘mobility’ initiative last year, they all now dial into the office from their laptops.
In the US, the roaming user is known as the ‘road warrior’. Our roaming base is about as warrior-like as an octogenerian flower-arranging class. If Henry the fifth had our ‘warriors’ at Agincourt, the English army would have been routed by a small party of children out on their school trip. Most of the archers would have shot themselves and Shakespeare would have instead written about the heroic efforts of a young French primary school teacher, in French.
