Richards Butler has been sidelined on a major shipping arbitration after the High Court last year ruled that one of the firm’s newly hired lawyers ran the risk of passing on confidential information on the case.
Ariadne Maritime has now instructed litigation firm Middleton Potts to fight the long running arbitration against Koch Shipping, represented by niche shipping firm Jackson Parton. The concerns centre upon Richards Butler shipping consultant Jane Peaston who recently joined the firm from Jackson Parton, where she was a partner at the time the firm was instructed by Koch. Richards Butler is continuing with plans to appeal the ruling.
