Herbies defends Enterprise as hostile takeovers mount

Herbert Smith has been instructed on its second major hostile takeover this month after Enterprise Oil called in the firm to defend it against an unsolicited bid by Italian oil and gas group Eni.

The firm is already embroiled in a messy battle on behalf of Carnival which has made a £3.2bn bid for P&O Princess despite P&O’s proposed £4.8bn merger with Royal Caribbean.
