When Richards Butler’s year-long merger discussions with Theodore Goddard finally collapsed in January 1999, it was a significant setback for the firm’s corporate finance team.
“That would have been a good deal,” admits head of corporate finance David Boutcher. “It was unfortunate as the vast majority of partners wanted the deal to go ahead.”
