The Bar Council has been forced into a humiliating climbdown after a botched attempt to force chambers to comply with a common timetable for the selection of pupils.
The debacle saw the Bar Council issue, and then hastily withdraw, stern instructions for chambers to comply with a strict new recruitment timetable in a bid to bring some order to the chaotic pupillage system.
