What was your career route to the BBC?
I was, until August this year, director of legal and business affairs at BT Cellnet, the mobile communications company. Before that I was head of mergers and acquisitions in BT Group Legal Services.
Why did you leave BT to join the BBC?
I was very excited by the opportunity of being general counsel of the BBC at a time of unprecedented change in the converging media industries. I was also keen to develop the commercial and regulatory experience gained from my time with the BT Group.
