Herbert Smith has hired Simmons & Simmons’ senior Shanghai-based partner Gary Lock in a move that will give the firm two bases in mainland China.
Under the arrangement, Lock will be based in the Shanghai office of its formal German partner Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch. The move allows Herbert Smith to avoid restrictions on having more than one office in China as the top 10 City firm already has an office in Beijing.
