Top City firms are edging closer to a deal with the Treasury to fully exempt corporate legal advice from regulation by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
Legal Week has learned that representatives from the City of London Law Society (CLLS) – the body leading the negotiations – have been asked to submit their suggestions on how the FSA’s code on financial promotions can be amended to clearly exempt all legal advice in corporate transactions.
