Shearmans and Freshfields secure £4.5bn Bayer deal

US firm Shearman & Sterling and City giant Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have advised Aventis and Bayer on one of Germany’s largest M&A deals this year.

In a e7.25bn (£4.55bn) deal, leading German chemical group Bayer bought US agro-science company Aventis CropScience.
