The fallout from the dotcom crash has continued to hit technology-based law firms in the US as a string of firms have announced plans to reduce staffing levels and cut costs.

In August, Silicon Valley firm Cooley Godward became the latest law firm to announce redundancies, when it laid off 85 associates and 50 paralegals. Others have attempted to avoid job cuts either by freezing salaries, scrapping bonuses and, in the case of Californian giant Brobeck Phleger & Harrison, introducing unpaid sabbaticals for its staff.
