The Law Society has asked the European Commission (EC) to intervene in a dispute with the Russian Government amid fears that on-going legal reforms will bar international lawyers from practising in Russia.
The move follows the failure of the Russian Government to recognise foreign lawyers in a raft of new legislation designed to modernise rules on legal practice and increase regulation of the judiciary (Legal Week, 7 September) .
