A further threat is emerging — the laundering of so-called ‘blood money’ for terrorists around the world to fund their operations and training camps. The CIA has already indicated that it will be monitoring all financial transactions connected with suspected and known fundamentalist and terrorist groups. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, has committed the UK to the search for terrorist funds and is pressing for international co-operation to expose the money laundering operations of terrorists and organised criminals.
