The Law Society has shrugged off a bid to slash the cost of the practising certificate (PC), with Chancery Lane set to raise the fees it levies on the profession by nearly a third next month.
The PC will increase by 31% to £650 next month, in a move that will boost the Law Society’s income by at least £13m – a rise that was sanctioned last week by the Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine.
