Slaughter and May has beaten off two rivals, one believed to be Clifford Chance, to advise Star Capital Partners on its first acquisition.
The private capital fund, owned by Spanish bank BSCH and Royal Bank of Scotland, was established last year by Clifford Chance, but Slaughters won out in the selection process for the deal, and also fended off competition from one other unknown firm.
