Slaughter and May has muscled out CMS Cameron McKenna to advise George Wimpey on its £461m acquisition of McAlpine Homes.
The instruction could signal the end of Cameron’s corporate relationship with the UK construction company. Although Slaughters and Camerons have shared the work between them for years, the appointment of Peter Johnson as Wimpey’s new chief executive favours the magic circle firm, which has a close relationship with him. Legal Week understands Johnson was instrumental in choosing Slaughters for this deal.
