Chancery/commercial and civil chambers 4 Field Court has announced it is to restructure as a specialist commercial set, with effect from 31 October. The new set will be known as Stone Chambers, and will continue to practice from 4 Field Court.
Steven Gee QC will retain his position as head of chambers, but further details of the restructuring have yet to be released. The future of the set’s remaining tenants – including eight other silks – and the clerking team is unclear.
Although no official reason has been given for the decision to restructure, it is widely seen as a response to the sudden departure in late June of five top commercial specialists for rival set 4 Essex Court.
Shipping specialists Lionel Persey QC, Nigel Meeson, David Goldstone, and Michael Davey, and reinsurance junior Guy Blackwood, attributed the move to opportunities presented by 4 Essex Court.
