Munich-based Beiten Burkhardt Mittl & Wegener has been hit by the shock resignation of four partners as City and US firms circle around the struggling Germany firm.
Three partners have resigned from the Munich office and one from the Berlin office.
The Munich partners are Christoph Kuhmann, Christoph Hoebbel and Michael Walther. The Berlin partner is Benno Schwarz.
Beitens’ management is understood to be attempting to talk the four partners into staying.
The move follows the loss of four partners from the firm’s Frankfurt office last month led by corporate rainmaker Gerhard Schmidt to US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges.
The departures also come at a time when Beitens’ strategy of building an international alliance with three other Continental firms is meeting internal resistance.
It is understood that a number of firms have approached Beitens about a possible merger, including City firm Simmons & Simmons.
