Lewis SilkinLewis Silkin’s move to the City presented all kinds of IT challenges – moving 180 users over the weekend with minimum fuss and bother, for starters. The fact that everyone was connected and up and running by 8am on the Monday proved the importance of planning. Some good ideas, however, come by accident…

The move gave us the opportunity to break some
networking ground, as well as an excellent excuse for some fancy new kit. The top floor of our new building, next to Dr Johnson’s house, is our client reception and conference room area. Before we moved in, each meeting room had only one Cat 5 port, which was needed for telephone access. If users wanted to work away from their desks, or access the network in client meetings, there was no easy way of doing so.
