Weil Gotshal & Manges this week struggled to bring its London office back on track with the appointment of Barlow Lyde & Gilbert partner Gary Richards to head its UK corporate tax practice, as the firm reeled from the loss of three banking lawyers to a City rival.

Richards was formally a lawyer at Linklaters before practising at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He specialises in tax-efficient structures, innovative funding techniques, remuneration and compensation packages, and VAT and stamp duty mitigation.
