General insurance specialists have cleaned up in the biggest shake-up of healthcare litigation since the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) cut its main panel from more than 80 members to just 18 three years ago. This month’s review has seen the NHSLA adding five firms to its panel and removing at least six.

Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, Weightmans, Kennedys and Ward Hadaway all join the panel as full members, having previously been gatekeepers. As gatekeepers they checked panel firms’ work – a process that industry insiders thought was “irritating”.
