Lewis Silkin advised OM, the Swedish group currently mounting a takeover of the London Stock Exchange on the acquisition of a new lease of 71,000 sq ft of office space at 131 Finsbury Pavement, London EC2 for a rent of more than £3m per annum. Head of property, Leonard Goodrich, assisted by Neil Toner and Maggie Hammond, led the team. Helen Garthwaite, partner and head of the construction unit, worked on the construction aspects, assisted by Clare Reddy. Carolyn Rice-Oxley, a solicitor in the property department of Herbert Smith, acted for the landlords.

Olswang acted for Woolworths on the acquisition of six shops from C&A’s property company Redevco. The price was not disclosed. The stores are in Chester, Gateshead, Ilford, Derby, Slough and Wood Green in London. Commercial property partner Robert Sweet of Kingsford Stacey Blackwell advised Redevco.
