The Bar’s income has grown by about 8% this year to between £1.3bn-£1.5bn, with tenants at commercial sets taking home an average of more than £200,000, according to a survey by accountants BDO Stoy Hayward.

The private sector accounts for nearly 60% of the Bar’s income, slightly up on last year, while 34% is derived from legal aid work, again up on last year. Local authority spending dropped the most, from 4.8% to 3.1%.
