Two weeks ago a working group from the City of London Law Society published its consultation document on conflict rules. The proposals, if adopted, will represent the biggest overhaul of the conflict rules for many decades.
Drawn up at the request of the Law Society, the report concludes that its recommendations will “strike an appropriate balance between permitting freedom of choice for clients while also ensuring solicitors compliance with their duties at common law, and which meet the needs of today’s business”.
