Oh for the high-flying life of a Law Society president. No sooner was Michael Napier voted into office as president of the Law Society that he found himself catapulted into the arms of the great and the good.

Last Tuesday (11 July), the day after the election results were announced, Napier was unavailable for comment. Why? New vice president David McIntosh informed Legal Week that Napier was at the Queen Mother’s centenary service, adding ominously: “When I heard I was elected, I thought I could do with a few prayers as well.”
