Chicago-based Altheimer & Gray has formed a strategic alliance with a nine-lawyer Hungarian firm to strengthen its coverage of eastern Europe.
The firm, Ban S Szabo & Partners, was previously the associated firm of Altheimers’ US rival Shearman & Sterling until December 1999.

Its strengths are in M&A, telecoms and securities.
Altheimers is the third Anglo-Saxon firm to open in Budapest in the last six weeks. In June, Denton Wilde Sapte formed an alliance with a local firm, while Landwell acquired two local firms in Budapest, creating an eight-partner firm.
