The Government’s commitment to putting all its services online by 2005, as stated in the Modernising Government white paper, has led to a major long-term initiative to enable fully electronic conveyancing.
The extranet site, Land Registry Direct, represents the first step in a broad initiative to streamline the Registry’s direct access system, cutting costs and saving time. It provides professionals in legal, financial and property services with access to the computerised records of some 17 million registers and title plans across England and Wales.
