Arthur Andersen and Dundas & Wilson’s new offices in Glasgow have been christened by rivals as the ‘Death Star’, in reference to the centre of Darth Vader’s evil empire in the Star Wars movies.
The openness of the layout, so the joke runs, makes staff feel like Vader is watching their every move.
But the move to 191 West George Street, described more circumspectly by property commentators as the ‘most prestigious development’ in the city – and certainly one of the most expensive – also sends the signal that the two firms are moving towards greater integration.
