The nights are getting longer, the Christmas decorations are up, and you’re feeling – well, anything but festive. The end of the year signals a push to get everything done before people leave for the holidays and as a junior lawyer, you often end up with a lot to handle. Here’s how to navigate the run-up to Christmas, and kick off the new year knowing that you’ve got it all under control.

  1. Start planning now

Speak to your team – work out who’ll be around over the festive period and if any handovers are required. Knowing people’s plans (whether they will be picking up emails, who will you be able to get hold of in an emergency, etc) will give you the ability to plan around it. Make sure your team is aware of your own plans, too – if there are periods where you won’t be as responsive as usual, give your colleagues a heads-up.
